Perumal Ramaswamy

Perumal Ramaswamy (Swamy) was a graduate student at Stony Brook University in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the laboratory of Dr. Miriam Rafailovich. He finished his Ph.D. in 2006. He obtained his Masters degree in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology at Madras in India in the year 2000. His PhD research aimed at separating proteins using surfaces.Under the guidance of Prof. Lisa Miller at the NSLS, Perumal used various techniques involving FTIR spectroscopy to investigate the secondary structural modifications that take place as a protein interacts with surfaces and with one another. In his spare time Perumal enjoys reading books, poetry, painting and traveling.
